A little study of open source CMSs, out of curiosity, just in case I’d go on specializing myself in political campaign websites. Depressing (the study, as much as the thought of working).
I already stated how much I hate SPIP — actually, I didn’t go into much detail about it, so I’ll just say I hate it, very much. But the others aren’t so much better. Typo3 certainly is very professional, but the template management seems absurd to me; besides, the documentation is written in such a bad English that it makes my head hurt, and that’s definitely not helping. Cofax, which looks promising and is used by several online newspapers, is… only available on Windows. No, seriously. Let me skip all the little things, because we’re talking professional sites here. Zope is the opposite of SPIP: the templates system appears to be very well designed, but the thing seems to be completely unusable for a joe writer. If I had to build a site right now, I’d try Plone: base on Zope, but with a real user interface. Except that the thought of committing to a Python system, meaning I wouldn’t be able to extend it at all, is a bit stressful. So what’s left? What’s left is that, out of all the CMSs I’ve seen, the one I’d feel most at east with remains Movable Type. It’s only supposed to make blogs, but it’s extensible, it makes static pages, it can make pretty, clean URLs, and it’s well designed. Only that it’s not open source, and I’m told that political candidates like to use open source software.
So I can choose between Plone (suicidal, because I’m likely to get stuck with what it can’t do), SPIP (suicidal because I’ll want to jump out the window when I’m up to writing the templates), or hand-coding (suicidal because of the amount of work it represents).
Wouldn’t anyone here be willing to design, right here, right now, a good CMS based on SPIP? There wouldn’t be that much to be changed.
Want to know when I post new content to my blog? It's a simple as registering for free to an RSS aggregator (Feedly, NewsBlur, Inoreader, …) and adding www.ff00aa.com to your feeds (or www.garoo.net if you want to subscribe to all my topics). We don't need newsletters, and we don't need Twitter; RSS still exists.

MT est open-source mais n'est pas libre ... C'est juste que tu dois payé une taxe quand tu en fais un usage commercial.

Si, c'est open source, tu peux la consulter (c'est du Perl). Mais c'est pas libre parce que tu n'as pas le droit de la modifier (ou bien tu peux mais tu n'as pas le droit de redistribuer).
C'est comme ça que je le vois.

Il y a un truc qui me bloque chez Typo 3, c'est la personnalité de Kasper Skårhø... Du style, je fais don de Typo 3 au logiciel libre en tant que témoignage de ma reconnaissance au Seigneur...

Et surtout Kasper est un sale con imbus de sa personne qui a pété et roté en face de moi pendant des mois, sans que je ne puisse rien dire... évidemment, il a développé des pans entiers de typo3 pour ma boite...
Par contre, je confirme le fait que ce CMS déchire !
Et en effet, il m'a bien affirmé avoir développé tout ça pour Jésus... (remarque les 1000 euros par jour qu'on lui rétribue je ne pense pas qu'ils aillent dans un tronc !)

Tiens, je pensais que TextPattern était uniquement pour les blogs. Je ne sais pas, je n'ai pas testé, et ça manque de documentation mais, de toute façon, c'est trop jeune pour une utilisation professionnelle.

Les développeurs voulaient au départ réaliser un clone de spip sous Python, puis ils ont suivi leur propre voie.

Concernant TextPattern, il est peut-être en version Gamma mais très stable, pas de bugs rencontrés pour l'instant. C'est plus qu'un outil de blog, mais moins qu'un CMS comme Typo3. C'est LE concurrent de Expression Engine (sauf qu'il ne coûte pas 150 dollars !)
Il a un système de template qui me convient parfaitement, basé sur une approche modulaire et la gestion des css (utilisation d'une feuille de style par section/rubrique si besoin). De plus il a un système de cache et exécuté très rapidement.
La communauté du forum est très ouverte et dynamique, les plugins sont déjà nombreux.
Franchement, à tester !
