The first augmented-reality app for the iPhone is French, made for Paris, and… I still don’t have a 3GS.
Want to know when I post new content to my blog? It's a simple as registering for free to an RSS aggregator (Feedly, NewsBlur, Inoreader, …) and adding www.ff00aa.com to your feeds (or www.garoo.net if you want to subscribe to all my topics). We don't need newsletters, and we don't need Twitter; RSS still exists.

I meant the first app that's available on the App Store (but tweets are limited :) ). Incidentally, I don't think it should have been released — augmented reality is supposedly only available once 3.1 comes out, so I guess they didn't advertise it in the description, and benefited from the fact that the app only works in Paris :) (Although I remember that QuadCamera, which uses similar hooks, got an update approved, so the reviewers might be intentionally letting API abuse through in advance of 3.1.)
As for the price, well... you're supposed to make it up in volume. There's nothing so very complicated about it, either, it's not like making an app like this will take months and months.
