Hi! My name is Cédric Bozzi, I make websites and iOS apps, and this is my blog about technology (mostly a Twitter archive, really).

2 November 2013

It’s certainly nice, and I can’t wait to get it, but handling the iPad Air doesn’t feel quite as science-fiction-come-true as the Mini did.

I hope many people have complained to @Tweetbot, so I don’t have to, about hiding the network strength indicator when you most need it.

8 November

I think it’s finally time to target iOS 5.0 and say goodbye to retain and release.

First time I’m using auto-layout constraints. I might slit my wrists.

9 November

RT @stroughtonsmith: Infinity Blade 2 had iCloud save support, but IB3 has dropped iCloud and uses their own cloud instead. Even Apple’s most trusted partners.

RT @jamesthomson: Tiny Death Star is a charming and whimsical Star Wars-themed Skinner box.

12 November

Rewriting an app after you’ve gotten properly confident with the language is so fun and gratifying — alternating with tedious.

Can’t be bothered to count the steps from lock screen to rating the track currently playing but there are ten times too many.

13 November

Apple: “You should totally adopt receipt validation in iOS 7, it’s so awesome! You only need to learn cryptography.” Godfuckdamnit.

For sanity’s sake I may forgo the receipt altogether and store a boolean in user defaults SO YEAH THAT’S MORE SECURE THANKS A LOT APPLE.

Damnit, I’m not gonna make and maintain my entire storyboard twice just so a couple segues can become form sheets on iPad.

I haven’t tested my iPhone’s slow-motion movie capture once. I only ever seem to remember its existence at home, in the middle of the night.

Looks like the only way to create reminders local to one of your iDevices now is to create a device-specific iCloud account. Uh, okay then.

14 November

You can Cmd-select several lists to display them simultaneously in Reminders on the Mac. Now if only it could sort the items alphabetically.

15 November

A decade later, there are still times while doing Obj-C when I miss C#. Overloaded operators, or the UI editor writing obvious code for you.

17 November

I’m surprised by Google Play Music’s emphasis on albums. It suits me perfectly but I’m pretty sure I’m in a minority nowadays.

The excerpt that made me preorder Fred Vogelstein’s ‘Dogfight’ is pretty much the book’s one and only interesting chapter.

18 November

Tweetbot qui beach-balle parce que j’ai tapé un dièse et il doit réfléchir à quels tags me proposer, que c’est beau le progrès.

19 November

AFAIK there’s no way to remove an update from the App Store after it’s been approved and users have found app-breaking bugs. It’s a problem.

22 November

RT @J4vv4D: Remember kids, if Internet Explorer is brave enough to ask to be your default browser, you’re brave enough to ask that girl out.

La musique qui revient en arrière de trente secondes à chaque fois que je déverrouille l’iPhone, ça va très vite me faire très chier.

23 November

High-fiving my Clumsy Ninja is the best thing ever invented on iPhone.

I think I’m gonna make an in-app purchase on Clumsy Ninja just for the sake of they-deserve-it. That’s how much you need to try that game.

“NaturalMotion’s A.I. Breakthrough”

Didn’t know Clumsy Ninja comes from the makers of Euphoria. That explains a lot.

26 November

I’d like to give PhoneGap a try but I could do with a little more hand-holding. Or a lot more, even.

28 November

Might switch to Tweetbot’s night theme just because (a) it’s differentiated from other apps and (b) it’s consistently white-on-black.

29 November

Le centre commercial qui a remplacé tous les plans par des écrans tactiles, et les écrans sont éteints \o/ #technologie

Downloading Microsoft’s MSIE virtual machines involves running a Microsoft-written command-line script on my Mac. I’m nervous.

I mean, if “Download free Windows 8 VMs with nude Britney Spears screensavers included!” doesn’t sound like a trap, I don’t know what does.

And I realize that no one would click on “naked Britney Spears” spam nowadays, but I’m old and I don’t know, or care, who replaced her.
