Hi! My name is Cédric Bozzi, I make websites and iOS apps, and this is my blog about technology (mostly a Twitter archive, really).

1 December 2015

L’interface merdique mal mise à jour des bornes Navigo qui réclame de sélectionner “une deuxième zone” sans préciser que le seul choix possible est la cinquième, ça a dû être drôle le premier mois de mise en place.

@CraigGrannell:

Another major creative app, Sketch, leaves the App Store. Apple really needs to address these concerns. [blog.sketchapp.com]

@CraigGrannell:

Knowing Apple, it’ll address said concerns by forcing all software to be installed from the MAS in OS X 10.12.

If you didn’t buy Monument Valley when everyone said you should, you don’t deserve to get it for free today.

Apache locking out visitors with a cryptic error message when cookies are too big to handle instead of ignoring them smh

5 December

@OldManKris:

Programming game:

- go to GitHub

- create a new repository

- use the suggested repo name

- write code that does what the repo name suggests

That’s two note-taking apps in a week with a single toggle to enable Apple Pencil and disable all finger input. You’re doing it SO wrong.

6 December

Infuse seems to be the best way to stream videos from a NAS to an Apple TV; it’s just odd how it doesn’t explain anywhere what more the Pro version does.

8 December

Time to back up my iDevices and have iTunes forcibly reinstall all the apps I deleted since the previous sync.

Haha this is awesome. Flexbox Froggy #csswg

Just got it — Apple doesn’t want your friends to go “oh, there’s a thick iPhone now?” so the external battery has to be super-obvious.

No irony or exaggeration, I 100% think that the design team would find it shameful for people to believe a thick iPhone exists.

10 December

Reading The Fun Home made me want to give a diary another try, but I’d forgotten I gave up on Day One because it stores data in clear text.

I’m setting up an Apple Watch and it. is. just. mind. boggling. that they didn’t reuse its on-iPhone setup process for the Apple TV.

12 December

My life has changed since I’ve discovered the Apple Watch’s red dot disappears if you just slide the notifications down then back up. (I always went to the trouble of force-touching to clear all notifications, which I found fucking obnoxious, as you can expect.)

13 December

The pettiest of my pet peeves is solved, Tweetbot doesn’t ask anymore what it should do when you mute someone or something.

The Timeline update for the original Pebble is live! (A little too late for me.) Looks great; can’t believe how smooth the animations are.

Lightsaber Escape

After all the app excitement, it would be funny if the web was about to have a third coming.

16 December

I bought a folio case to trick my mind into thinking the iPad Pro’s just a big notebook, but… ugh.

And it’s infuriating to think there’s absolutely no reason for the big bezel around the screen other than to make it look like an iPad.

17 December

“Nous enregistrons votre mot de passe mais vous le redemanderons à chaque paiement.” Et moi qui comptais mettre un mot de passe sécurisé.

18 December

I could swear that for a few weeks the Share menu in Pocket did the sensible thing. And now it does the stupid thing again (an extra menu).

19 December

I’ve long wanted an iPhone chat app to offer a simple desktop remote (avoiding iMessage-like sync issues) and just found out Whatsapp does.

21 December

I resisted Spotify all this time because of the UI but song radios are turning me into a convert. (There’s no Pandora in France.)

22 December

It’s a shame that The Force Awakens came and went without Twitter thinking to introduce a ROT-13 button. Here’s hoping for 2017.

23 December

Proper windowing support in iOS would require very little additional work on Apple’s part [twitter.com] [twitter.com]. (Not factoring in, of course, UX design and the question of whether it’s a good idea at all.)

25 December

Even drunk I can’t help but analyze the ways this Hue app could be more in sync with the music. How do I turn that part of my brain off.

27 December

Please tell me you don’t expect me to pay for yet another sync service, that JUST handles my Paper database

29 December

Coming back to OS X after three days clearing my Steam backlog in Boot Camp, I feel like my head is finally coming out of a vice.

On the plus side, I’m amazed that Windows just runs flawlessly on a USB 3 external hard drive.
