Hi! My name is Cédric Bozzi, I make websites and iOS apps, and this is my blog about technology (mostly a Twitter archive, really).

Difference between an iPhone and an actual real life proper movie camera. Never seen such a direct comparison before https://t.co/7E4Dt8db6k

If watchOS 4 still requires two presses of different strengths to figure out temperature and condition I’m switching to Android.

I can’t find anywhere in Mail or System Prefs that would allow me to re-enter my password, so I guess I’ll just remove the accounts, huh?

(Those are GMail accounts; for my regular IMAP accounts I can find where to change the password.)

The Darkroom app is so good that it’s making me much more frustrated than before with the limitations of my old iPhone 6′s camera.

@stroughtonsmith:

Just in case you wanted another iOS 11 spoiler (this is an option in the Feedback app when filing a bug) /via @charavel https://t.co/mQVlJjZbb4

The vertical carousel style for watchOS probably works well to optimize information density, but wtf is up with those gradient backgrounds.

Maybe have the keynote last half an hour longer instead of making everyone rush through everything? No?

@ow:

apple is clearly listening to the people moaning about performance, and it’s meeting them in the middle, sorta.

I wanted to post a 🤦🏻‍♂️ every time it was warranted (i.e. every 30 seconds) but “Duplicate status.”

Ooh I wanna know what privacy compromises Apple made to finally have iMessage conversations sync properly between devices.

@forgottentowel:

This means iCloud storage is now encrypted.

@gruber:

iMac Pro looks awesome. But it is NOT the new Mac Pro. New Mac Pros are still in the works for next year.

Converting live photos to long exposures 👍

@freemanrepo:

Of course, AppStore in iOS 11 will have stories. #wwdc2017 [pic.twitter.com]

@marcoarment:

Turns out the past of computing had a lot of good ideas.

Damn, iOS 11 on iPad Pro looks fantastic but I still want to enjoy it on an 8-inch iPad with Pencil and I’m never gonna get that 😢

@nickstatt:

Apple is making the perhaps very smart assumption that stellar audio and subpar AI trumps subpar audio and semi-OK AI.

6 June

@jakemarsh:

Best part about iOS 11 screenshot behavior (tiny window + Markup) - is you can say “Done” then discard after sharing. No need to save!

@stroughtonsmith:

I haven’t opened one of my iOS projects in (only!) a year, and this is what I’m greeted with. Thanks, Swift. https://t.co/ISD4m31qlw

@praeclarum:

I asked ARKit for the height of my table. It was off by 3cm. 3.8% error. From a lousy video camera. This thing is great.

@fraserspeirs:

On the iOS 11 home screen:

Short tap = open

Medium tap = popover menu

Medium hold = begin drag

Long hold = enter rearrange mode

8 June

@scottbuscemi:

Apple Music’s Planet of the Apps’ first company pitch was an app that ARKit sherlock’d the day before.

Good representation of app world.

Only just realized that omg I can finally enable iMessage on my Mac, too, without losing messages — and that means no more FB Messenger \o/

12 June

I am irrationally angry at the obnoxious absence of labels on the Apple Store’s tables.

13 June

@stroughtonsmith:

There’s also a TableViewReorderingUsesDragAndDrop pref key for UIKit that does away with the legacy reordering behavior and uses DnD instead https://t.co/kASkY4acro

@odavis_:

Incredible. Within first 10 minutes of Uber all-hands meeting today, a board member makes a sexist joke. https://t.co/iurWrXTOXw https://t.co/ngQW6uS5J3

@robmanuel:

Increasingly uncomfortable with Facebook doing this. I live 6 miles away. Feels like they’re adding to people’s stress to drive engagement. https://t.co/6UxZ6iJDTZ

Ca y est, le bouton “Archiver” d’Instagram est disponible pour tous \o/ #grandnettoyagedeprintemps

Twitter: The border-radius will increase until morale improves.

@JulianLepinski:

Tim Cook: I run Apple & hit the gym @ 4am to keep my body in peak condition

Me: I built an app &the pressure made me stress-eat 5000 cookies

@BenedictEvans:

The state of AI understanding: someone can give a ‘Wizard of Oz’ demo with the curtain open and people still think they’re seeing magic

@steve_breen:

Surprising WWDC labs takeaway:

Many developers eschew the trackpad “natural scrolling” direction setting 😂

@CraigGrannell:

I’ve never understood modern tech’s tendency towards stupid and insanely loud beeping you can’t turn off. (Fine if you can.) https://t.co/GoDO1Dbtw9

“macOS High Sierra tech preview”

I thought APFS upgrade wouldn’t be default — maybe it is only for beta testers?

20 June

Providing support for an app that sold for all of three months until it saturated its very niche market is the worst.

At least no one’s contacting me about bugs in Uniconsole because no one’s using it anymore.

@christianmccrea:

If you need a self-imposed Twitter break, just tell a nazi to go fuck themselves, the app takes care of the rest for 12 hours.

@ID_R_McGregor:

Japanese Robot Sumo.

I was aware of it, but had no idea it moved so fast.

None of this footage has been sped up.

@stroughtonsmith:

Apple’s approach to getting Photoshop on iPad was ‘wait 7 years for an indie to recreate Photoshop from scratch’. Worked—not very scalable

As far as unsolicited emails go, this would be pretty clever if blogs hadn’t been dead for years

@stroughtonsmith:

! ARKit is accurate enough to measure point to point distances in a room. On an iPhone. [twitter.com]

This is madness. Don’t understand why anyone would want this. [buzzfeed.com] [pic.twitter.com]

I wonder if Apple is making a AR headset 🙃 [twitter.com]

@NathanJLiu:

Damning review of Planet of the Apps, with a sad conclusion. Apple has lost its taste. [youtube.com]

28 June

I can’t imagine how it could be a hard problem for Finder to remember the right view settings for each folder.

@alexhern:

The insane bus tunnel thing is dead because of course it is. [qz.com]

@alexhern:

It got proposed, built, and shut down in the time it’s taken Hyperloop to build a test tunnel in a desert.

29 June

@stroughtonsmith:

Seeing the hole punched in this Apple Pencil Case makes me wonder why the heck Apple didn’t do that themselves https://t.co/4rWkJBLdIs

@alexhern:

Ain’t no pitch as creepy as a dating app pitch [pic.twitter.com]

@kocienda:

Here are two iPhone prototypes. We called them Wallabies. I used these devices to make the software keyboard. https://t.co/qbofBL3RUt

30 June

@NathanJLiu:

Something I haven’t seen anyone using an original iPhone mention: when you load the YouTube app, it has one video to stream. https://t.co/dDDwlO6qWu
