Chants of Sennaar (PC) —
“The best translation game I’ve ever played” should be faint praise, but this is a fantastic game. The translation mechanics are very smartly designed — from UX design to the idea of getting you to learn new languages instead of getting into the frustrating weeds of a single one. And it’s gorgeous (though navigation through fixed cameras gets a bit confusing at times).
I could have done without the stealth gameplay, but it’s used sparingly enough. I do wish you could tell, right from the menu, every usage you’ve witnessed of a particular glyph used, instead of having to backtrack. Everything else is chef’s kiss.
