“Starting Today, Facebook Apps Can Ask You To Hand Over Your Email Address”

Today, Facebook is granting developers on Platform the ability to request (or require) users to hand over their email addresses so they they can send periodic messages directly to users.

Why. The. Fuck? Was is petitioned by masochistic users? Were developers threatening to go on strike if they didn’t get e-mail addresses?

Want to know when I post new content to my blog? It's a simple as registering for free to an RSS aggregator (Feedly, NewsBlur, Inoreader, …) and adding www.ff00aa.com to your feeds (or www.garoo.net if you want to subscribe to all my topics). We don't need newsletters, and we don't need Twitter; RSS still exists.
