I’ve read a lot of negative reports about the way Apple headphones handle multi-device connection, and I don’t know if they’ve substantially improved since then, but I really like the way my Anker/Soundcore earbuds handle Bluetooth multipoint: they’re permanently connected to both devices, but as long as the current device is playing they stick to it and will not switch away until it’s silent. Short of mixing both sources (which the hardware should be able to handle 🤷) that’s as good as it gets.
