When I saw that DALL-E started adding a tag to its images so people could verify that it’s been generated, I assumed it had to be steganography and didn't read any further.

Nope, it’s just a metadata field in the file 🙃

"It can easily be removed either accidentally or intentionally. For example, most social media platforms today remove metadata from uploaded images, and actions like taking a screenshot can also remove it.”

It’s not foolproof, but it’s a start.
