In Sperry and Gazzaniga’s experiments, they would simultaneously show two different images to the two different halves of a split-brain person’s brain. They would then ask them to perform a task based on what they saw. Both arms would perform the task, but because they had seen different pictures, they would do different things.
They would then ask the subject why the arm controlled by the verbal hemisphere did what it did, and the subject explained perfectly reasonably why their response to the prompt image made sense.
What do you think the subject did when asked why the arm controlled by their non-verbal hemisphere had done what it did?
